As the 1st hire to Goldman Sachs’ trading business, I have the privilege to create not only a new generation of trading technology, but also an extraordinary design team with an innovative, yet precise, design culture. I’m responsible for setting product vision and moving the mission forward through the desktop, web, and mobile experiences. I work cross-functionally with Product Managers, engineers, data scientists, and business leaders. I established the design process, and the global cross-functional communication and hiring process.See it liveCase study
I joined when the trading business was reinvented by technology. I was responsible for identifying opportunities as a product design lead. After researching and interviewing users, I realized how important it is to create price transparency for commodity traders. Commodities are unlike other businesses; they have many more players, including exchanges, banks, and local providers. In order to create the transparency users need, I created a design direction that provides price and market depth, and created a united price center so that users can consume price data easily.
“May is a pleasure to work with! She is always available for UX questions, puts in great thought to her designs and really excels at reviewing her work with the rest of engineering. She is my favorite person on the team to work with.”

“May is the kind of rare talent that any team would be lucky to have. May is extremely knowledgeable in finance as well, and her contributions are definitely key factors that have led to the success of the Marquee Mobile team. She has been the epitome of a mentor. I believe she is a solid example of a successful woman in business, one reason being that she views the world with an open mind so she can bring new perspectives and ideas to solve ambiguous problems.”
“It has been a pleasure to work with May and feel she is a safe pair of hands. Over the past year I have seen May take on a number of projects, managing workloads and timelines effectively. May has also grown in her ability to work with end users and stakeholders. I have also been impressed with the way May has conducted end user interviews and testing sessions.”
